Undergraduate Poets to Read at KSU LibraryPosted Sep. 26, 2011
Featured will be the following students:
- Casey Nichols is a senior English major with a writing minor. She has taught poetry writing to middle and high school students, and she was awarded first place in the Wick Undergraduate Scholarship for 2010.
- Christian O’Keeffe is twenty years old and from Kent, Ohio. Some of his influences include the river, Jim Carroll, Maj Ragain, Jack Micheline, Bob Kaufman, moths, deer, blue heron, Kurt Cobain, Arthur Rimbaud, and that ecstatic act of walking.
- Angela C. Orlando is taking classes “to experience new ideas and to keep my brain active and challenged.” Much of her writing is influenced by her disabilities and her former abusive marriage. However, she is proud to be the first deaf-blind student at Kent State.
- Mathias Peralta is a senior English major with an electronic media minor. He is the co-editor of Kent State’s literary magazine, Luna Negra. Born in Santiago, Chile, Mathias pulls his inspiration from Spanish poets such as Pablo Neruda and Federico García Lorca.
