Newly Completed Projects

Aeronautics and Technology Building

The Aeronautics and Technology building is the new facility for the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology. The building is approximately 55,200 gross square feet and will include air traffic control training rooms in a lower level, classrooms and shop areas on the first floor, and faculty offices and classrooms on the second floor.

An event will be held in April 2015 to celebrate the official opening of the building.

May Prentice House & Poetry Park

As the new home of the Wick Poetry Center, the May Prentice House has been restored and renovated to provide a larger and more flexible space for Wick programs and community use. In addition to housing the Wick staff and intern offices, the house offers a state-of-the-art digital classroom, the Stan and Tom Wick Library, the Jo Woodward Reading Room, and a third-floor Poet's Loft for quiet reflection and student conferences.

The "Seated Earth, 2014" sculpture is featured in the Poetry Park adjacent to the Wick Poetry Center's new home. The 12-foot bronze sculpture was designed and donated by Kent State alumnus, former art faculty member and Wick Poetry Center co-founder Robert Wick.

A Dedication was held September 26, 2014 to celebrate the Poetry Center's new home.

Field House Locker Room

The 12,000-square foot addition, added to the south side of the Field House, will provide locker rooms for field hockey, softball, women's soccer and men's and women's track and field/cross country athletes. The building also includes coaches' locker rooms, athletic training facilities and a new entryway into the Field House.

Kent State University coaches and athletes joined university administrators and donors for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 25, 2014 to celebrate the opening. The Field House addition is the initial phase of the Kent State Athletic Department's "Building Champions" initiative.
