Advisor:Scott Dotterer, Coordinator, Office of Health Promotion Officers: Alexandra Hill (President), Ashley Taylor (Vice President), Courtney Holman (Fundraising), Allison Willcox (Events), Katherine Poinski (Education)

Description:Face AIDS is a national organization that is dedicated to fighting AIDS in Africa. There are over 150 Face AIDS chapters at schools across the U.S. These chapters are organized by students with the goal of raising awareness of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Moreover, they coordinate fundraising campaigns by selling beaded pins made by HIV-positive patients in Rwanda and those bearing the responsibility of caring for HIV-positive family members or an AIDS orphan. These funds, matched by private donors, are given to Partners In Health (PIH). With this financial assistance, PIH, a non-profit organization, is able to provide free HIV treatment, comprehensive health care, counseling, and health education to Rwandans in need. Face AIDS at Kent State also facilitates educational programs and co-sponsors events that address HIV prevention to students on campus. There are approximately 12 Face AIDS-Kent State chapter members with six of these students representing the executive board.

If you would like to join the Face AIDS-Kent State student organization or find out more about the group, please contact Alexandra Hill, President of this organization via e-mail or Scott Dotterer at (330) 672-8266 or via e-mail.
