Social Media

Overview
Kent State University extends its campus community to the world of social media for information sharing, relationship and support building, marketing, listening and engaging in online conversations and much more. The university utilizes the following social media platforms at the institutional level: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, Foursquare, Pinterest and Flickr.

These platforms are used to reach various target audiences with the following goals in mind:

  1. Customer service
  2. Peer to peer assistance
  3. Communication and information sharing, including crisis communication

These three types of transactions foster engagement with various stakeholders, such as current students, prospective students and alumni, while extending the Kent State University brand.  

Kent State's Web team provides guidance and resources for social media administrators, as are they are building content, strategies, monitoring conversations and measuring success.
