Do you love ceramics or psychology? Are you more College Republican or College Democrat, ice hockey goalie or lacrosse player? Student organizations create a community within a community for a very personal Kent State experience.
- Greek Life
Have you always been interested in joining a fraternity or sorority? Greek life has been a part of the American college experience for more than 100 years and offers opportunities for lifelong friendships, community service, leadership development and even scholarships.
- Experience new cultures; share yours.
Arab, Chinese, Indian, African, Muslim, Nepalese, Saudi, Latino, Turkish and other international students can find a home away from home with organizations that let them preserve and share their cultural heritage with other students who want to experience a little slice of life from across the world.

- Give something back to your community.
A top university gives back to its community. The Community Involvement office offers Kent State students the opportunity to continue the university’s tradition of “giving back” while developing leadership potential and the understanding that individuals can indeed make a difference in their communities.
- Let your inner leader emerge.
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) gives rising freshman and sophomores the opportunity to enhance their personal leadership skills as a component of the total college experience. By becoming a part of this select group of Kent State students, these students are exposed to skill building, networking, application of leadership concepts in other settings and much more. There are numerous other leadership opportunities available, including representing your fellow classmates in Undergraduate Student Government.
- Get fit. Have fun.
The Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC), together with other fitness and sports facilities located on campus, make staying healthy easy and convenient. These facilities offer swimming pools, circuit training equipment, weight rooms, a climbing wall, an indoor track field, an ice arena and much more.
- Cheer on the team. Take in a show.
When you compare Ohio’s best colleges, take location into account. Kent State’s proximity to major metropolitan areas (Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngtown) puts students within reach of world-class dining, museums and professional sports. By virtue of living on campus, additional events and activities are available to you right in your own backyard including arts, music and theatre events.
