Dr Jack Vazzana is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the East Liverpool campus. His interests are in visual sociology through photography. He incorporates this interest in his web site "Dr Jack's Loft" which is the most comprehensive web site in higher education for students and instructor. It is constructed with "triggers" so that classes are never cancelled, although they may not meet physically. There are over thirty-eight pages with more than 250 graphic illustrations and pictures. His photo show, "Metaphors of Desire", suggested American social icons and "Metaphors of Obsession", featured at the 2011 AURCO Conference at Lake Campus, Wright State, focuses on repetitive cultural themes that are self-perpetuating contributing to the existential construction of social reality. Dr "Jack" was selected (22 out of 165 entrants) to exhibit in the Water Tower Regional Competition in Louisville, Kentucky sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts. His two works illustrated the contradictory woman's dichotomy of empowerment and continued exploitation. Dr Vazzana likes to think he enhances and illustrates the academics of Sociology to students through an understanding and participation in the arts.
