Application Process and Timeline for Domestic Students

Updated 7/19/2013

Domestic students should follow these steps when applying to graduate school in the Department of Sociology at Kent State University.

Applications must be completed and submitted online (see URL below). The online application includes the statement of purpose, but all other application materials (transcripts, letters of reference, GRE scores, assistantship application) must be mailed to:

Division of Graduate Studies
Cartwright Hall
650 Hilltop Drive
Kent State University
Kent, OH 44242

Your application will not be considered complete and released to the Department of Sociology until the Division of Graduate Studies receives all of your application materials. An incomplete application will delay the decision process.

The Department of Sociology begins making decisions about graduate assistantships as early as possible in the spring semester for students admitted for the following academic year. Therefore, to ensure full consideration for funding, domestic students should submit their materials to the Division of Graduate Studies by December 15th to ensure that the Department of Sociology receives all the materials by mid-January.

A complete application includes all of the materials described in steps 1-6 below. If you are also interested in a graduate assistantship, you should also complete step 7.
