Supplemental Instruction Job Opportunities

How do I become an SI Leader?

 Every semester, we hire new Supplemental Instruction (SI) leaders to join our team!

  1. First, review the SI leader job description.
  2. If you meet the criteria, you may download an application to complete or request one from
  3. Finally, please submit the following documents:
  • Completed SI leader application, including essay responses
  • Resume detailing relevant experience
  • Letter of recommendation from a current/previous instructor or current/previous employer (can be e-mailed separately to the SI Program,

You may e-mail your documents to, or you may submit a hard copy to the Academic Success Center's front desk (MSC 207).

Only completed application packets will be considered.



Do SI leaders receive training?

Absolutely! All SI leaders attend training the week before classes start, and we provide ongoing training throughout the semester in bi-weekly team meetings. New SI leaders also meet regularly with a mentor to learn best practices and refine facilitation strategies.


What does an SI leader do?

An SI leader for a given course attends all class meetings, takes notes, reads assigned materials, and conducts three or more SI sessions each week. During these sessions, the SI leader integrates how to learn with what to learn. In other words, students practice study skills while reviewing course content in a fun, interactive environment!

Do SI leaders get paid?

Yes, SI leaders are paid for attending training, meetings, and classes, in addition to planning and facilitating SI sessions. At this time we do not offer course credit for working as an SI leader.

Is being an SI leader enjoyable?

You bet! While SI leaders are required to be extremely knowledgeable, reliable, and responsible, we also enjoy helping students and working together as a supportive team.


How many hours would I get work as a SI leader?

New SI leaders normally have a 12-hour weekly commitment. This commitment includes time for class attendance, SI session preparation, weekly mentor meetings, and a bi-weekly SI leader meeting.
