Below are resources to assist you in creating course materials that are accessible and usable to all students. The 'Cheatsheets' are from the National Center on Disability & Access to Education (NCDAE). The videos were developed by a team of accessibility experts and are hosted by the Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities.

How to Search for ADA Compliant YouTube Videos

  • Unfortunately, the beta captioning that has been implemented by YouTube isn't accurate enough to satisfy accessibility requirements. The instructions below explain how to search YouTube for videos that already have ADA compliant captioning.

            1.      Enter your keywords in the YouTube search text box, Press the Enter key

            2.      Once the results page has display, click the Filters button (right underneath the search text box)

            3.      Click CC (closed caption) and a list of ADA compliant videos will be displayed

    You can tell if a YouTube video is ADA compliant if the video indicates CC under the short description. (see red arrow below)
