A Message from Grant McGimpsey, Vice President for Research
Research for Life: Ideas, Innovation, Commercialization
Research for Life at Kent State means focusing on the major global challenges we face as a society -- healthcare, energy and sustainability. Research for Life means enriching lives through our cultural and artistic endeavors, educating the next generation of educators, and inquiring deeply into the human condition. In all these areas and more, Kent State excels.
Research for Life also describes Kent State's commitment to the regional, state and national economies. Through our many research endeavors, our translation of research into technologies, partnering at the regional and national levels and the creation of new companies and industries, we are ensuring the future economic well-being of our region and state. We are committed to creating a highly trained technical workforce in Northeast Ohio that will support existing industries and attract new businesses to the region, and to accelerating job growth.
Our strategic plan in the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs centers on six initiatives:
- Build research capabilities in areas of global need
- Increase internal and external resources for research
- Build academic, industrial, clinical, government and foundation partnerships
- Expand our economic impact
- Create a culture of student research
- Expand our outreach
We encourage you to contact us and partner with researchers at Kent State.
Grant McGimpsey, Ph.D., Vice President for Research
