Graduate Student Awards for the Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates and Students in Lindau, Germany


The 2015 Focus is CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS and PHYSIOLOGY/MEDICINE  

Sponsored Programs is coordinating nominations for the Graduate Student Awards for the Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates and Students in Lindau Germany. Award recipients will receive a travel grant to attend the 65th Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates and Students, June 28, 2015 –July 3, 2015.  The 2015 Focus is  Chemistry, Physics and Physiology/Medicine and more information concerning the meeting is at www.lindau-nobel.org

To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. Citizen, have completed by June 2015 two academic years of study toward a doctoral degree in the fields of physics, physiology, medicine, chemistry, or a related discipline, but not be planning a dissertation/thesis defense before December 31, 2015; be currently enrolled at Kent State University as a full-time graduate student; and must be participating in a research project funded by federal or private funds.

There is an institutional limit of four nominations for Kent State University through the Mars, Incorporated or National Science Foundation Pathway. If you wish to nominate a graduate student for this award please contact the Sponsored Programs Office at x2-2070 or via email to Diana Skok at dskok@kent.edu no later than Wednesday, October 8, 2014. If  more than four students are nominated an internal competition will be conducted.

Notify Sponsored Programs of your desire to nominate a student by Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Information needed is student’s name, student’s email address, confirmation that the student meets eligibility requirements, funding source for student’s current research project, name and contact information of the nominating PI.

Nominated students are notified. Instructions given on application process.

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Application Materials are due for Internal Competition (in event that more than four students are nominated).

The following materials for the Internal Competition must be submitted by email to dskok@kent.edu:
  • two page personal resume of the applicant
  • one page letter of reference from the applicant’s advisor and
  • one page essay written by the nominee describing why participation in the Lindau Meeting is important for the nominee’s education.
