Researcher Database Details

The Researcher Database is an application that accesses the "basic" Faculty Profile database system.  In turn, the Faculty Profile database accesses the Banner system to display the contact information that is on file with the University.  The system was designed this way in order for us to be able to keep our database as up-to-date as possible. 

Basic Faculty profiles are able to be created in one of these ways:

  1. Request a New Researcher Database profile to be created - To create a Researcher Database profile for you, our office must first create a "basic" Faculty Profile for you.  The profile that we create for you is only populated with very simple information (name, department).  The Division of Research is not able to edit your "basic" Faculty profile for you unless you enable us to do so.  Once we create your profile, we recommend that you edit this basic profile to be more complete.
  2. Faculty member creates/edits their profile – Faculty member can create a new, or edit an existing, "basic" faculty profile" by visiting the following website: .  Access is obtained by entering your FlashLine user ID and password.
  3. CommonSpot administrator for department creates/edits the "basic" Faculty profiles - If the department has a Commonspot content administrator, then that administrator can log into the faculty database system and create/update the "basic" Faculty Profile information from the following link 

    For a list of departmental university commonspot administrators visit the UCM website at  (link is on left-hand side and is entitled "List of Commonspot Administrators". Once the "basic" Faculty profile is updated, the Researcher database displays the added/updated information.
