Richard J. Coe
A 1971 graduate of Ravenna High School, Mr. Coe attended Kent State University and graduated in 1977. While still a student at Kent State, he secured his first position in the banking industry with First National Bank and Trust Company. Starting as a courier, Coe worked his way through the Installment Loans and Visa departments before becoming the bank’s youngest administrator in 1978 at the age of 25. He continued his rise in the banking industry through the 1970s and 1980s, holding the positions of loan officer, security officer, main office supervisor, vice president and manager of Bank One’s Community Banking Division.
Following these accomplishments, Coe worked to establish Portage Community Bank. Founded in 1998, the bank received the first bank charter awarded to the Ravenna Community in 60 years.
Coe also serves on the board of directors of Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation and Family & Community Services and The Ohio Bankers League. He is past president of several Ravenna business organizations including the Rotary Club of Ravenna; United Way of Portage County; Ravenna Chamber of Commerce; and the Immaculate Conception Home & School Association. In addition, Coe was past campaign chair for Boy Scouts of America – Seneca District and past president of American Red Cross – Portage County Chapter.
His was honored with the United Way President’s Award in 1988; was inducted into the Ravenna Ravens High School Hall of Fame in 2001; and was Grand Marshall of Ravenna’s Balloon-A-Fair in 2001.
Mr. Coe and his wife, Heather resides in Ravenna. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and traveling.
