Free Health Clinic at Kent State Salem Nov. 4th

Kent State University at Salem will offer a free health clinic on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the campus' main lobby. Kent State Salem is located at 2491 St. Rt. 45 S, in Salem. Free screenings include those for the ears, kidneys and blood pressure will be provided. A flu clinic will also occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Flu shots are available for $20. In addition, the Red Cross will have a blood drive. Free Medicare Part-D consultations will be available from noon until 4 p.m. in room 310. Staff members from the Area Agency on Aging 11, Inc. will help people navigate through choosing a Part D plan and /or Medicare health plan for next year. Agency on Aging 11, Inc. is a non-profit agency offering this non-biased assessment for people choosing a plan, or for those considering switching plans.

Staff from Agency on Aging 11, Inc. and Social Security also will discuss programs on additional assistance with prescription drugs and other benefits for which older adults may qualify. A program known as Extra Help can help save qualified seniors nearly $4,000 annually. Participants are required to bring their Medicare card and a complete list of prescriptions and dosages. This free program is provided through a partnership with Kent State University, Agency on Aging 11, Inc., and Social Security.

Information on sexually transmitted diseases will be provided by the Columbiana County Health Department. In addition, visitors can learn more about the health programs housed at the Kent State Columbiana County Campuses. This includes Kent State Salem's bachelor's degrees in both Nursing and Radiology, along with an associate's degree in radiology. At Kent State East Liverpool, students can earn an associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant, physical therapist assistant and nursing. For more information, please call 330-332-0361.
