Honors Gymnastics Student Receives MAC Specialist of the Year AwardPosted Apr. 1, 2011
Lindsay Runyan, sophomore biochemistry major at Kent State University, is a member of the Kent State gymnastics team and this year achieved her highest score on bars at a 9.95, tying for the record score for bars in Kent State history. Runyan is a five-time MAC Specialist of the Week and has garnered the MAC
Specialist of the Year Award at the MAC Championships hosted at Central Michigan State University, becoming the second Kent State gymnast to earn the title.
This year, Lindsay has competed on the uneven bars and beams for every gymnastic meet. Runyan is currently ranked 7th in the nation on the uneven bars with a regional qualifying score of 9.905 and average of 9.875. This weekend, she will be competing in Ann Arbor, MIchigan at the University of Michigan's regional competition. The top two teams out of six qualify for the nationals competition. The top two individuals who are not members of the national qualifying teams also go on to the nationals competition. Nationals are co-hosted by Kent State University and will be taking place at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
In addition to Lindsay's stellar athletic ability, she is also an exceptional Honors student. Lindsay performs well academically every semester and is entirely committed to her intellectual journey in the Honors College.
