Kent State Names Greg Jarvie as Vice President for EMSA

 Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton announced today that Greg Jarvie has been named vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA). The announcement was made at the university’s Board of Trustees meeting. Since Aug. 1, 2009, Jarvie has been serving as interim vice president. He also held the position of dean of students.

Photo of Greg Jarvie“Greg has done a terrific job as interim vice president, and I’m so happy to remove the word ‘interim’ from his title,” Lefton said. “He is a longtime Kent State employee who has wonderful relationships with our students, both current and former. He has led the university’s initiatives in student recruitment and retention. He is dedicated to the success of all of our students. Greg truly exemplifies ‘Excellence in Action.’”

As vice president for EMSA, Jarvie oversees the day-to-day operations of the 15-unit division that includes the offices of Admissions, Recreational Services, Residence Services, Student Financial Aid, University Health Services and Dining Services. He has been with Kent State for 23 years. Prior positions he has held at the university include associate vice president for EMSA, dean of students/student ombuds, interim director of Residence Services, assistant to the director of Residence Services, area coordinator and resident director.

Jarvie received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Marshall University and a Master of Higher Education Administration from Kent State. He lives in Brimfield, Ohio.
