Kent State Holds Meonske Accounting Conference, April 29-30

The Ohio Council of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) will host its 36th Annual Meonske Accounting Professional Development Conference and Workshop on April 29-30 at Kent State University. Umberto P. Fedeli, President and CEO of the Fedeli Group, will deliver the keynote luncheon speech “Use Your Strengths to Succeed” to more than 500 financial executives.

The Friday financial reporting panel features Wayne E. Carnall, Chief Accountant in the Division of Corporate Finance of the SEC; Robert H. Herz, Chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB); Carlo D. Pippolo, Partner and the Director-Standard Setting in Ernst & Young’s Accounting Standards Department in New York; Donal Byard, Associate Professor of Accountancy, Baruch College, CUNY; and Nicholas R. Sucic, Vice President and Controller, Davey Tree Expert Company.

The afternoon sessions includes “Leading with Kindness - How Good People Consistently Get Superior Results” by Dr. William F. Baker, Professor, Fordham University, Executive-in-Residence Columbia Business School and President Emeritus of the Educational Broadcasting Corporation. Sam E. Antar, former CFO of Crazy Eddies, Inc., will present “How to Find Fraud in Clear Sight.”

“Lessons Learned From Bernard L. Madoff Ponzi Scheme” will be the topic of Noelle Frangipane, Deputy Inspector General, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Office of Inspector General. Attendees will be trained in the latest accounting ethics by two nationally-known ethics speakers Kent State Accounting Professor Dr. Norman Meonske and National Becker Professional Education Instructor Tim Gearty. 

Cleveland attorney Robert S. Gilmore, Esq. Partner, Kohrman Jackson & Krantz, will discuss “What Financial Executives Need to Know on Performance Appraisals for Employees.” Fair Value Standards Boot Camp educational seminar will be presented by Gregory A. O’Hara and Jay B. Wachowicz, Stout Risius Ross, Inc., Financial Advisory Services. 

The ethics program fulfills the Ohio Board of Accountancy three-hour CPE requirement for professional standards and responsibilities.
