Center Affiliate Brian Kelley Recognized on State Level, Portage County on National and International Level

KelleyAn Affiliate to the Center for Public Administration and Public Policy, Brian Kelley is the Chief Information Officer at Portage County, Ohio and is responsible for the County’s Information Technology operations. Under his leadership, Portage County has received international, national, and state recognition for highly successful enterprise-wide information technology projects.  Most recently, his work has been recognized by the Urban Regional Information Systems Association, the Center for Digital Government, and the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association.

2011 Ohio Government Finance Officers Association Innovation in Public Finance Award

Brian Kelley received this award for implementing a unique, time-saving or cost-effective procedure or program in the public sector that has potential application for other entities.

Portage County recently received the following awards:

2011 URISA (Urban Regional Information Systems Association) Distinguished System - Enterprise Systems Category (ESIG) Award

The ESIG Award is an international award for the Portage County GIS. URISA’s ESIG Awards recognize exceptional achievements in the application of information technology that have improved the delivery and quality of government services. Systems in this category are outstanding and working examples of using information systems technology in a multi-department environment as part of an integrated process. These systems exemplify effective use of technology yielding widespread improvements in the process(es) and/or service(s) involved and/or cost savings to the organization.

2011 Center for Digital Government - Digital Government Achievement Award (Honorable Mention)

A Second award for the Portage County GIS systems is from the Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA), recognizing outstanding agency and department Web sites and projects at the application and infrastructure level. Submission are accepted for all United States and international government agencies - all levels and all countries.

There are hundreds of submissions for this award annually and only a few are selected. An honorable mention is a prestigious honor, and Portage County is the first Ohio governmental entity to ever receive this coveted recognition.
