Wick Poetry Center’s 25th Anniversary Events (04/07/2009)

The Wick Poetry Center continues the celebration encouraging new voices with its culminating 25th anniversary events.  Starting April 23, at 7 p.m., the Wick Poetry Center will present the 8th annual Giving Voice Performance, featuring students, educators and seniors from area schools and communities performing original poetry and music, all to take place in the Kent State Student Center Ballroom.

The anniversary events continue on Friday, April 24, with a panel titled “Outreach in the Community” in the Kent Student Center in Room 306 at 10:45 a.m. and a 1 p.m. slide show and talk with Wick Director Maggie Anderson also in Room 306.  At 6 p.m. there will be a 25th Anniversary Potluck Dinner and Program at the United Church of Christ of Kent, 1400 E. Main St., Van Meter Hall. Seating will be limited.  Please RSVP to the Wick Poetry Center at 330-672-2067 if you wish to attend.

Saturday, April 25, at noon, an open poetry reading at Woodsy’s Performance Center located in downtown Kent will conclude the anniversary events.
