Thomas Appointed Interim Executive Dean for Regional Campuses (7/17/2009)

Dr. Wanda Thomas, dean of the Trumbull Campus, has expanded her leadership role at Kent State University to include guiding the Regional Campus System as interim executive dean for Regional Campuses. She will serve in this interim position for a term of one year, while maintaining her duties as dean of the Trumbull Campus. The new assignment became effective July 15.

Dean Thomas steps in to fill the role held for the last year by Dean Gregg Andrews. Dean Andrews played an integral role in the transition of a previously centralized Regional Campus Office to its current, more autonomous Regional Campus System structure. During his tenure, he facilitated the decentralization of services to the Regional Campuses. As a result, administrative costs for the Regional Campus System have decreased significantly while autonomy on the Regional Campuses has increased.

Thomas has been dean of Kent State Trumbull since 2005. She is a Kent State graduate and former vice president for community and resource development at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Thomas has extensive experience creating community collaborations and implementing technical education programs.
