Kent State Selects Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (06/18/2009)

Kent State University Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Pete Goldsmith announced today the selection of T. David Garcia as the associate vice president for enrollment management. Garcia is currently the director of undergraduate admissions at Ohio University where he has served since 2005.  He will join Kent State on Aug. 1, 2009.Dave Garcia

“I am very excited to join the Kent State community,” says Garcia.  “Kent State is an institution with excellent academic programs and outstanding faculty and staff.  I look forward to building relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni and community leaders.  These relationships are essential to meeting enrollment goals.”

At Ohio University, Garcia collaborated across the university to establish an institutionwide strategic enrollment plan to capitalize on their academic strengths and focus recruitment efforts on students who would be successful at the institution.  With a career spanning more than 17 years, he also served as the director of admissions at Western Illinois University and as the associate director of admission s at Bowling Green State University.

“Garcia is an accomplished admissions and financial aid professional, and we feel confident in the leadership he will provide, not only for the recruitment and enrollment process, but also on issues related to ongoing student success and retention. With his past experience, he will be instrumental in shaping the future strategy to achieve enrollment objectives,” Goldsmith said.

Garcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish business from the University of Findlay, a Master of Arts degree in interpersonal communications and currently is working on his Doctor of Philosophy degree in higher education administration at Ohio University.
