Interim V.P. for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Named at Kent State (06/22/2009)

Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton recently named Greg Jarvie as interim vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA).  Jarvie, currently associate vice president and dean of students, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 15-unit division that includes the offices of Admissions, Student Financial Aid, University Health Services and Dining Services, among others.
Jarvie has been with the university for 22 years in several different positions, including dean of students/student ombuds, interim director of Residence Services, assistant to the director of Residence Services and area coordinator and resident director.

Jarvie obtained his Bachelor of Science in education from Marshall University, and his master’s in higher education administration at Kent State University in 1989.

“I want to thank Greg Jarvie for stepping into this important leadership role,” Lefton says. “The university and the division have accomplished much in recent years, and we want that momentum to continue.”

The position will be vacant Aug. 1 when current Vice President Harold “Pete” Goldsmith leaves Kent State to become dean of students at Indiana University.  In the interim position, Jarvie will provide the leadership for the division of EMSA with an emphasis on the continuation of university initiatives related to the recruitment and retention of students.
