Damage to Performing Arts Library Materials

In order to preserve our collection for future patrons, we enforce KSU Libraries policy regarding extensive damage to library materials.  While we understand that it is essential for teaching and performing to annotate scores, this should not be done directly on the library's copies.  Damage to an item, including (but not limited to) markings of any kind (including pencil), affixing tape or post-it notes, or damage to pages or bindings will result in a fine or replacement/billing charges.

Many items in the KSU collection already contain markings and library staff members are working to erase markings as time permits.  This policy applies only to materials marked with a stamp stating "Library material returned bearing personal marking will be charged to the borrower as having been defaced!"  Library patrons are given one opportunity to erase markings written in library scores and will be notified via email.  Any following instances of items returned with markings or other damage will result in an automatic replacement fine charged to the library patron's record.
