Introducing The Dr. Frank Robinson Library

Residence Services | 09/02/2011

For exemplifying the virtues of professional service, excellence and contributions to professional staff and student development, the Department of Residence Services, a department within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs dedicated “The Dr. Frank Robinson Library” in honor of Dr. Frank Robinson, Residence Services employee, 2005-2010.  “Dr. Robinson, personifies what professional development, training and community service is all about throughout the profession of student affairs. Thus we are pleased to honor him and his achievement and legacy to the student affairs profession”, said Charles Holmes-Hope, Coordinator of Residence Education.

During Dr. Robinson’s tenure at Kent State University, he served as a Student Affairs professional, an educator, and a staunch advocate for both staff and students.  In 2009, prior to his retirement, Dr. Robinson was the recipient of the University’s “Celebration to Service” award for his personal and professional service to others. Dr. Robinson was instrumental in the Department of Residence Services service initiative matching residence halls with social agencies and introduced the concept of a “Day of Service” to the staff training and development programs for both professional and student staffs, which is still observed by the department today.  “Dr. Robinson’s perseverance and dedication to the staff and students at Kent State University, resulted in a more mission centered department and as a result, it is stronger today because of his influence”according to Jill Church, Associate Director of Residence Services.

In closing, Dr. Robinson brought enthusiasm and passion to his work and he is deeply missed.  Dr. Robinson’s legacy continues to influence our staff by emphasizing the importance of critical thinking.   To learn more about The Dr. Frank Robinson Library, please stop Residence Services (Korb Hall) or contact Charles Holmes-Hope, Coordinator of Residence Education for more information.
