While surfing the TV channels, residence will find more of a selection than past semesters.
This fall semester, Residence Services has upgraded the cable television system - almost doubling the past selection. With the addition of 54 channels. The new channel lineup includes KSU Student Media Channels, a Residence Services channel, MTV-U, multiple Spanish and Chinese channels and HD channels. We are also providing 10 analog channels for students with older televisions. To view more of the new channels visit the Residence Service's Channel Guide for a complete listing of the channel lineups.
With the new addition to the channel lineup there are some requirements to consider when purchasing a television for living on campus. To view the new HD channels an HD television is required (many of the newer televisions are HD). Another requirement would be that the television comes equipped with a QAM Tuner (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation Tuner). In order to facilitate the increase of channels, we moved to a digital cable system that requires all televisions to be equipped with a QAM Tuner. More information on QAM Tuners can be found at http://www.qamtuner.com/
While most televisions made since 2009 have the equipment, it is important to note the requirement when living on campus. For residences that have an older television and want to view more than just the analog channels, our cable supplier recommends purchasing an IVIEW2000 digital converter box.
