In addition, I assist with coordinating continuing education and professional development programs for individuals. Finally, I am responsible for client relationship management, consultative selling, proposal and program development, marketing and program management.
Worked at KSU since:February 2013
Employment Prior to Kent State University:I spent more than five years with Michigan State University and more than eight years with The Ohio State University, coordinating an outreach program for youth which had adult volunteers.
Likes Most About Kent State University:Kent State has the best of both worlds – it’s a state university with state resources, but has a community-college feel because of the many branch campuses. Coming from a land-grant university and youth development background, I recognize the value of having a local campus for individuals to start their education and the impact a community-minded school can have in the neighborhood. Kent State plays a huge role in providing a great number of resources to the community in terms of continuing education, retraining and workforce development. I also like the diverse opportunities available to both students and staff, whether at the Kent Campus or any one of the regional campuses.
Attraction to Kent State University as an Employer:Working in extension and youth development for so many years provided me with a feeling of community. The atmosphere at Kent State Trumbull mirrors that – it’s the community feel and commitment that attracted me to Kent State. I also have a passion for career exploration, workforce development and leadership. Those desires attracted me to the position of outreach program coordinator here at Kent State Trumbull. I also look toward to the future and many different opportunities within Kent State.
Resides in:Leetonia, Ohio
Education:Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the Ohio State University in 1995; Master of Science in Extension/Adult Education from the Ohio State University in 2001
Hobbies:I have been married for nine years and we have three wonderful little girls, so I have little spare time for hobbies! I enjoy gardening, jogging, reading and enjoying life through the eyes of my children.
