September Lunch and Learn: Emotional Roots of ClutterPosted Sept. 2, 2013
The personal environment clients create often is a physical manifestation of how they are feeling on the inside. Clutter has emotional roots. What’s the source of their accumulation? Guilt? Fear? Sadness? Anger? Any of these underlying emotions can result in avoidance, indecision and lack of motivation. Clearing away material items that represent uncomfortable feelings can help clients to address and release them.
The September Lunch and Learn presentation titled “Emotional Roots of Clutter” will take place on Sept. 12 from noon - 1 p.m. in the Heer Hall Training Room.
This month’s presenter Susan Fee, M.Ed., PCC, works with Lakeshore Educational and Counseling Services. Fee specializes in helping her clients develop their personal and professional communication skills. She appears regularly on WKYC’s "Good Company" as their relationship expert and is a fill-in co-host for Q104’s morning show. Her column “Mommy Matters” appears bi-monthly in Akron Family Magazine.
The Lunch and Learn programs are sponsored by the Division of Human Resources and are held in conjunction with Impact, the university’s employee assistance program. The hourlong programs are free and open to faculty and staff. However, seating is limited and reservations are required. Employees will have the opportunity to purchase pre-packaged healthy lunches to enjoy during the presentation. If you would like to order a lunch, you must do so before Tuesday, Sept. 10. This information is available on the registration form.
