Superintendent License Online Cohort


ALL documents must be received by April 25, 2014

The new online Superintendent's Licensure Endorsement program will begin June 2014 and run through May 2015. Tuition rate is $475 per credit hour plus a $10 per credit hour distance learning fee. Financial Aid is available.

All coursework for the superintendent license takes place in an online format.

The superintendent license requires three years of experience in a position requiring a Principal or Administrative Specialist license. This license requires 18 hours of prescribed coursework. The superintendent license coursework includes a field experience as part of the 18 required hours. This license permits the holder to serve in any PK-12 administrative position with the exception of School Treasurer.

All coursework must be taken at Kent State University.  Substitutions or modifications are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be approved in writing by the student's assigned advisor (degree students) or program coordinator (non-degree students), Dr. Christa Boske.

Concurrent Degree Program

Why not apply these licensure credits to your next degree?

  • Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree: It's only 30 credits beyond your Master's degree!

    • This would enable you to receive the superintendent license and an Ed. S. degree with overlapping course work.

Ed.S. Plan of Study

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) Degree:  It's only 56 credits beyond your Master's degree!

    • This would enable you to receive the superintendent license and a Ph.D. degree with overlapping course work.
