Kent Student Center Ballroom - Kent Campus

Kent State University's Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in collaboration with the School of Fashion, powered by the Division of Finance and Administration, will host an exciting diversity event called the Garment Games – Inclusion By Design, a fashion sportswear design competition. Five-time Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Skylar Grey will infuse the runway event with musical performances including her recent hit song, Coming Home. Positive messages about the importance of inclusion will be fused throughout the program.

The diversity event was developed by members of the University Diversity Action Council, to promote inclusion across all university campuses and surrounding communities and to celebrate and support the 2014 Gay Games (GG9) coming to Cleveland/Akron in early August.

Fourteen senior design students from the School of Fashion Design and Merchandising will be paired off, to successfully design a female and male sportswear creation. The winning designs will be worn by the two co-chairs of the board of directors of GG9 during the opening ceremonies of the Cleveland Gay Games. The winning senior design students will be awarded cash prize. We are excited to have the co-chairs, Hollie Ksiezyk and Steve Sokany model for the event.  Hollie works for the Ritz Carlton in the sales area.  Steve is employed by Kent State University in Institutional Advancement.
