Police and Firemen's Disability Fund
The Mayors' Think Tank of Northeast Ohio has conducted detailed research on the present condition of the Police and Firemen's Disability Pension Fund for the past year. Instruments used to further this research include the State Legislative Report on comparative retirement benefits for state employees and public safety personnel (Vol. 16, No.5), the Ohio Retirement Study Commission comparison of the five statewide pension systems: the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS); the Police and Firemen's Disability and Pension Fund (PFDPF); the School Employees Retirement System (SERS); and the Highway Patrol Retirement System (HPRS), (Sept. 1995), and the Legislative Service Commission's bill analysis of Sub. S.B. 82. Guest speakers such as Aristotle Hutras and Glenn Kacic of the Ohio Retirement Study Commission provided important information regarding the status of the PFDPF. The results of this research follows.
