The Mission of Corporate & Foundation Relations

Advancing the mission of Kent State University through the creation of mutually beneficial partnerships with corporate and foundation entities that support institutional priorities. Corporate & Foundation Relations works closely with university stakeholders to provide a centralized point of service for external corporate and foundation relationships. Corporate & Foundation Relations aligns external partners with Kent State University resources. 

The Goals of Corporate & Foundation Relations

  • Increase private funding support to the university
  • Manage proposals and projects that meet the strategic objectives of the university
  • Manage specific projects as directed by the President and Provost
  • Connect external partners to Kent State resources

Corporate & Foundation Relations Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible for Securing Corporate and Foundation Funding

  •          Manage university submissions
  •          Monitor national, regional and local requests for proposal and disseminate them to the university community
  •         Review proposals and concept papers for alignment with private, corporate and foundation funding goals
  •         Coordinate prospect research on potential funders and develop in-depth profiles of foundations and corporations


Act as the Kent State’s Point of Contact for Corporations and Foundations

  •         Corporate & Foundation Relations staff communicates directly with program officers, foundation leadership and corporate executives to formulate projects
  •         The Corporate & Foundation Relations team focuses on building comprehensive relationships with funders that goes beyond one particular project
  •         Corporate Relations efforts strive to connect corporate partners to all of the assets within Kent State to maximize the benefits of collaboration

Administer the proposal development and submission of proposal to corporations and foundations

  •          Private funding is secured through the Kent State University Foundation, a separate 501(c)(3) that manages and invests funds on behalf of Kent State University
  •          Works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs to review and develop budgets
  •          Assists faculty working with COEUS
  •          Provides and independent review of proposals to ensure alignment and compliance with the funder's guidelines
  •          Facilitates the grant reporting process
  •          Collaborates across university departments and divisions to ensure a seamless submission process
