New Online PR Master’s Program Launches SuccessfullyPosted Jan. 14, 2011
JMC launched its first fully online public relations master’s degree program Jan. 10, 2011. The program is one of just a few of its kind in the world.
The online master's degree with a concentration in public relations is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in communication ranging from managerial situations in agencies, to corporate director or other strategic public relations or marketing communications positions. The program found success identifying, reaching and attracting its target demographics.
“We realized that busy professionals need options for gaining the advanced education that will make them more successful,” said Bob Batchelor, Ph.D., JMC assistant professor and program director. “We designed the online program to help students maximize their potential, regardless of location. What prospective students will find as they investigate the program is a deep commitment to providing students with meaningful, intellectually rigorous learning opportunities delivered by world-class faculty members.”
Journalists and social media professionals will find the program offerings valuable as they re-qualify themselves with advanced study in public relations specialty areas, management, crisis communications, branding, internal communications and strategic campaigns.
“The response to our initial marketing efforts has been very encouraging,” said Gene Sasso, JMC PR online program coordinator and faculty member. “The initial cohort is populated with extremely well-qualified public relations, marketing and other communications professionals.”
