Effective communication skills are consistently rated as one of the top three proficiencies employers desire in new hires. Whether students major in architecture or zoology, communication skills are necessary for effective interaction. The Communication Studies minor allows students to improve their speaking abilities as well as their listening, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

 Global Communication Minor 

Globalization is a multi-faceted and irreversible phenomenon in the world today. It is due largely to the increase in the development and use of communication technologies, and the global flow of communication and information. The effects of globalization are striking, including changes in industrial, financial, economic, health policy, political, informational and cultural practices. The Global Communication minor is designed to provide graduated with some of the theoretical, practical and cultural sensitivity skills to use communication most effectively in global organizations and environments of all kinds.

Fashion Media Minor

This minor is open to Journalism and Mass Communication and Fashion Merchandising majors. It is a two track minor. Fashion students take the Media track to learn about the fashion media and better prepare them to understand the industry. Journalism and Mass Communication students take the Fashion Track to learn about the fashion publishing industry to better prepare them for work in this business. The Fashion Track includes a trip to New York City to study Fashion Media. The Media Track has a New York City trip as an option.
