Economics is the study of how people make decisions in response to incentives. The Economics minor examines a range of topics, including individual decisions regarding risk, firm strategies regarding their competitors and the role of the government in the financial system and broader economy. Students study specific areas of public policy concern such as health care, environmental problems, economic development and international trade. Problem-solving and analytical skills are emphasized throughout the program.

Requirement to declare the economics minor:

  • Minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA; or if new freshman, no established GPA is required.

It is highly recommended that students electing the economics minor complete at least one mathematics course at the MATH 11010 level or higher before registering for upper- division economics courses.
