1. Minimum C (2.000) grade is required in all specified NURS, BSCI, CHEM and Kent Core MATH courses. NURS 25010 Introduction to Accelerated Nursing is taken instead of NURS 10050 Introduction to Nursing and 20010 Interpersonal and Communication Skills for Health Care Professionals.
2. A minimum C (2.000) grade must be earned to fulfill the writing-intensive requirement. Students declaring the combined degree program with the master of science in nursing will satisfy the writing-intensive requirement with NURS 60101 Theoretical Basis for Nursing Practice I.
3. Student may substitute CHEM 10054 General and Elementary Organic Chemistry for CHEM 10050. Minimum C (2.0) grade is required. Both courses fulfill the Kent Core.
4. Students who have successfully completed ATTR/EXSC 25057/25058 Human Anatomy and Physiology I/II may use those courses in place of BSCI 20020 Biological Structure and Function or BSCI 11010/11020 Anatomy and Physiology in Allied Health I/II.
5. Students in the RN BSN concentration May take any Kent Core Mathematics course.
Special Major Note:

• Students not declaring the BSN for Registered Nurses concentration must earn a combined minimum 2.750 GPA in BSCI 11010 and 11020 (or BSCI 20020 or 30518) and BSCI 20021 (or BSCI 30171)  and CHEM 10050 (or CHEM 10060 or 10960 or 10961) and CHEM 10052 (or CHEM 10054 or 20481 or 20482 or 30481 or 30482).
• Students who pass 15 credits of non-remedial academic coursework each fall and spring semester and the 1-credit First Year Experience course will accumulate 121 credits in four years. This major requires 122 credits for graduation. Students can stay on track for graduation by:
  • Declaring their major as freshmen and completing all courses in sequence (bear in mind that switching majors may cause a delay in graduation);
  • Prioritizing required courses above electives;
  • Meeting regularly with their academic advisors to stay on track;
  • Passing each required course the first time attempted and maintaining the minimal GPA for the major;
  • Successfully completing more than 15 credit hours of relevant coursework (field-based work, internship) during academic semesters; and/or
  • Completing relevant coursework (field-based work, internship) during summer sessions.

BSN for Registered Nurses concentration

Registered nurse students take the same 36 credits of Kent Core and 19 credits of foundational courses that are required of all BSN  students. Once RN/BSN students enter the BSN for Registered Nurses concentration, they take 27 credits of nursing courses specially designed for the RN and a 3 credit upper-division health care or nursing elective. After successful completion of Nursing 41000, Concepts and Issues for Professional Nursing Practice, the BSN for Registered Nurses student receives up to 33 University credits in nursing following the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model. Students must have 122 credits to graduate.
 

1. Minimum C (2.000) grade is required in all specified NURS, BSCI, CHEM and Kent Core MATH courses.
2. BSN for Registered Nurse students will receive credit for up to 33 University semester hours of nursing courses upon completion of NURS 41000 Concepts and Issues in Professional Nursing Practice.


Progression
The student must complete all nursing courses with a 2.000 grade point average or higher. The student may not repeat any clinical course more than one time and no more than two clinical courses may be repeated. Students attaining two failures in clinical nursing courses are automatically dismissed from the nursing program. A grade of C (2.000) must be obtained on repeat to avoid dismissal from the nursing program.

Graduation
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is granted to registered nurses who complete the planned program of study with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.000 (C) and a minimum of 2.000 in each nursing course. Students also need to meet all other university requirements for graduation and complete a minimum of 30 semester hours at Kent State University.
