Description

The Associate of Applied Business in Business Management Technology provides students with a core consisting of written and oral communication skills, management skills, accounting, marketing, e-commerce, economics and liberal arts courses. In addition, the program offers technical options that allow students to specialize in business management (that articulates with the Bachelor of Business Administration), computer applications, general business management/entrepreneurship/manufacturing, information technology and marketing sales. In some cases, students may have the opportunity to participate in internships, which help to link theory with hands-on practice. Requirements articulate fully or in part with the Business Management, Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing Management certificates; contact an advisor for more information. This major is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), 7007 College Blvd., Suite 420, Overland Park, KS 66211, 913-339-9356, The degree is available at the AshtabulaEast Liverpool, Salem, Trumbull and Tuscarawas campuses. Most of the courses in this major are available at the Geauga Campus and the Kent Campus through the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology.
 

Career Opportunities

Administrative services managers held about 247,000 jobs in 2006. About 65 percent worked in service-providing industries, including Federal, State, and local government; health care; finance and insurance; professional, scientific, and technical services; administrative and support services; and educational services, public and private. Most of the remaining managers worked in wholesale and retail trade, in management of companies and enterprises, or in manufacturing.

Admission Requirements

Admission is open to anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Graduation Requirements

Minimum 63 credit hours. Minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA and in major.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

1. Apply lessons learned by integrating business simulations into appropriate courses using Excel, Mylab or other simulation software.

2. Discuss various aspects of teams in business: team dynamics, different types of teams, meeting rules and management.

4. Research and share how businesses are currently working to improve their products, services, and overall organizations.  Quantitative and qualitative research will be addressed.

5. Understand business concepts and vocabulary.

7. Demonstrate knowledge acquired by emphasizing public speaking, ethical problem solving, teamwork, and multimedia presentations.  Know and be able to write in a formal and informal style.

8. Demonstrate ability to work effectively in teams.

9. Demonstrate knowledge of business and economic principles, concepts, and vocabulary. They will be able to interpret local, state, national and international markets and regulations.

10. Use appropriate technology for business applications. Review of future technology.

11. Be able to identify, assess, and solve specific problems for actual organizations or address problems presented in a case-study.

12. Be able to distinguish between ethical and unethical business practices and to show an appreciation for diversity in the workplace.
