Admission & Evaluation

BIS Admission Process

  1. Student needs 60 credit hours
    1. A student must first have a minimum of 60 earned hours (and preferably not more than 90) before beginning this process.

  2. Complete Request for Evaluation
    1. Students who wish to declare the BIS degree must complete a formal application, starting the process with the Request for Evaluation form.

  3. Meet with BIS advisor, review evaluation
    1. Once a program evaluation is prepared by one of the BIS advisors, you will be contacted to arrange an advising appointment to review this evaluation.
    2. This evaluation summarizes all current and completed coursework and reviews requirements necessary to complete the BIS degree.

  4. Submit Application, Program Rationale and Proposal
    1. After meeting with an advisor, an application for admission, which includes the statement of program rationale and program proposal, may then be prepared by the student.
    2. Allow 3-5 weeks for processing and notification after an application is first submitted for review.
    3. Please note program admission deadlines (see below), and allow time to revise and adjust your initial proposal and rationale.

The formal application materials must be submitted by established deadlines. Collegial approval of the Change of Program form constitutes admission to the program.
