Student Poets to Read Nov. 22

Posted Nov. 2, 2011

The Wick Poetry Center and the English Department are pleased to present a poetry reading featuring outstanding undergraduate poets. The reading will take place November 22 at 2:15 p.m. in the Wick Poetry Corner (2nd floor, University Library). The reading is free and open to the public.

  • Joe Boyle is a history major with minors in writing and English. He has been published in Luna Negra and the Honors College’s Colloquy. He also enjoys making and listening to music.
  • Sarah Coon is a senior theater major. She can often be found lurking around the EZ Blackbox at Kent, cooking up increasingly fantastical projects. In addition to her directing, she’s finishing up a writing portfolio of poetry and short plays and a certificate program for nonprofit management.
  • Dan Dorman is a senior Honors student working to complete a bachelor’s degree in English with a writing minor. He plans to attend graduate school in order to teach the beauty and wonders of poetry. The first poem he wrote was about a cloudy day, his most recent is about a new pair of shoes.
  • Lisa Mirkovich was born and raised in Ohio and drew much of her early inspiration as a writer from the history and culture of the surrounding Rust Belt. After watching a few seasons pass in New Orleans, she recently returned home to finish her English degree. She will graduate from Kent State in the winter of 2011.
