Profile Detail

Tom Ballinger

Doctoral Student

I am a Ph.D. candidate with interests surrounding climate variability and change, especially in the polar regions.  My current research is primarily concerned with the atmospheric and oceanic causes of regional Arctic sea ice decline and the consequences of these losses as they relate to Arctic and subarctic weather and climate.  I use both statistical and synoptic climatological approaches to evaluate these ice-climate relationships over time.  During Summer 2014, I am an instructor for the Physical Geography Lab.
