Mike's interests in land started at an early age in Scouting, as he taught summer camp badges in the Nature Lodge on his way to achieving Eagle Scout. Influenced by this, he earned an undergraduate in Conservation from Kent State. During his undergraduate years he was employed within residential construction, and ultimately wetland delineation and water quality analysis.
After several years of wetland related work and military service in the USAF, his interests became focused on real estate development - specifically land valuation. He became a commercial real estate appraiser (certified general appraiser), along with earning a real estate sales license with a global commercial real estate brokerage firm. His professional development coursework in this arena is from the Appraisal Institute, CCIM, Urban Land Institute, American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers, and the Realtors Land Institute.
Mike earned a Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Akron, Department of Geography & Planning. He is currently a 3rd year PhD student with a cognate field of Architecture. His focus has been within the interests of business geography - specifically, exogenous influences on urban land valuation.
Mike is currently employed with Pointer Appraisal Services, which provides commercial real estate consulting and valuation products within all of Ohio and several surrounding states. He is an active adult leader with his son in Scouting, and a trustee at The Church in Silver Lake. Mike & his wife, Karen, are constantly active with their three children with soccer, cross country track, basketball, and church events. Mike & his family reside in Cuyahoga Falls.
