Profile Detail

Gina Butrico

I am a Graduate student studying food security in industrialized countries. My thesis question asks "Could geothermal greenhouse agriculture increase food security in developed countries in cold climates?" My fieldwork will take place the summer of 2012 in Iceland, where I will spend a month interviewing farmers, government officials, and union representatives on this topic. I also research bike sharing on college campuses under Dr. David Kaplan and through a grant by the Ohio Transportation Consortium. In the future I place to get my PhD in the areas of Geography and food security and perhaps one day work as a professor.
