Auditions & Employment Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in Porthouse Theatre! We are excited that you are interested in spending your summer with us.
Each summer, Porthouse Theatre provides a unique training opportunity for actors, designers, technicians, and managers as they work side by side with established professionals in the context of a professional producing theatre.
Porthouse Theatre offers multiple opportunities for involvement every summer. Please access the links below for more detailed information regarding auditions, employment, and scholarship opportunities.
Auditions for Porthouse Theatre's 2015 season will take place on January 31 and February 1, 2015 at Kent State University's Center for the Performing Arts, located at 1325 Theatre Drive, Kent, OH. Please access the link above for more information on how to schedule your audition.
Porthouse representatives will also be in attendance at the Ohio Theatre Alliance/North Central Auditions on January 17 and 18, 2015.
Callbacks will be held at Kent State University on Feb. 7 and 8, 2015.
Equity Principal Auditions will be held in New York on a date To Be Announced.
Porthouse Theatre is hiring for positions in management and technical areas for the Summer of 2015. Access the link below for more information.
Audition and Employment Application Requirements
Porthouse Theatre utilizes Decision Desk for its audition registration and employment application processes.
When auditioning, you will be asked to register via Decision Desk and supply a headshot, brief bio, and resume in advance.
When applying for employment, you will be asked to provide a cover letter, resume, recent photograph and a brief bio. If you have questions about this process, please email email@example.com or call 330-672-3884.
Porthouse Theatre also offers a summer educational program for high school graduates intending on enrolling as a theatre major in Kent State University's School of Theatre and Dance. Students will take three (1) credit hour courses in 1) Musical Theatre Dance either beginning or intermediate level, 2) Voice and Ensemble Singing and 3) Acting and Monologue Preparation. Master classes will be provided by the professional actors in the Porthouse Theatre company.
