Kent Keyboard Series Presents Season of Great Piano Performances

The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music Kent State University will continue the 2011-2012 Kent Keyboard Series. Co-directors Donna Lee and Jerry Wong have a recognizable lineup of pianists who will perform as guest artists throughout the remainder of the series.

The second concert, slated for 5 p.m. on Sun., Nov. 20, is in Ludwig Recital Hall. Pianist Donna Lee will lead the French conert with members of the Miami String Quartet and The Cleveland Orchestra in the formidable Faure Piano Quartet in C minor and Poulenc Sextet. The program is as follows:

The concert will also serve as the official CD release of Mendelssohn Complete Works for Cello and Piano recorded by Keith Robinson, cello and Donna Lee, piano.

Donna Lee

Donna Lee made her solo debut in 1990 with the National Symphony Orchestra. She has since appeared as a soloist and collaborative artist at Kennedy Center's Concert Hall and Terrace Theater in Washington, DC, and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City. She has also performed in Asia, Europe and throughout the US, with recent performances in Hong Kong, Beijing, China and Puerto Rico. She made her solo recording debut on the Azica label, with a program entitled Scenes from Childhood with works by Schumann, del Tredici, Medtner, and Prokofieff.

She earned her doctorate from Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, her Masters from The Julliard School, and her bachelor of music degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she studied with prominent artist-teachers Julian Martin, the late Rudolf Firkusny, and Thomas Schumacher, respectively. A highly sought-after teacher and clinician, she has had numerous prize-winning students. Lee is currently an associate professor and Coordinator of the Piano Division at Kent State University.
