Principal Cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra performs an All-Brahms Cello Recital

Cellist Mark Kosower has earned international reputation for his instrumental mastery, musical integrity and powerfully expressive performances as soloist with orchestras, in recitals and as Principal Cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra.

Mr. Kosower has appeared with the symphony orchestras of Detroit, Florida, Grand Rapids, Houston, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oregon, Santa Barbara, Seattle, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, among others. International appearances include the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the China National Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, the Kansai Philharmonic and the Orchestre de Paris.

Mr. Kosower has been a top prizewinner in both the Rostropovich and the Pablo Casals International Cello competitions, receiving a special prize in both competitions for best interpretation of newly commissioned works by Marco Stroppa and Cristóbal Halffter.

A regular in the KBMF Faculty Concert Series, Mr. Kosower will be performing an All-Brahms program that includes “Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38,” “Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 2 in F major, Op. 99” and “Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in G major, Op. 78.”


Tickets for the performance are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $5 for college students with a valid ID and FREE for students 18 and under.


Tickets are available weekdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Box Office, located in the lobby of the Roe Green Center in the Center for the Performing Arts at 1325 Theatre Drive on the Kent campus. The Performing Arts Box Office accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover, in addition to cash and checks.


The Ludwig Recital Hall box office will open one hour prior to the performance for walk up sales, and will accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Tickets and more information are available by calling 330-672-ARTS (2787) or visiting kent.edu/blossom.
