Elizabeth (Betsy) Carr earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and Illustration from Stephens College. She brings over 30 years of industry experience to the Kent State Fashion Design and Merchandising program. With her love of fashion and sincere dedication she has achieved outstanding and exciting business opportunities and achievements. They range from representing major textile companies at trade shows, to fashion coordinating and fashion show and event production. Elizabeth has worked as an assistant designer for a major women’s wear manufacturing corporation. Most recently she has been an entrepreneur who established her own retail business merchandising upscale fabrics, buttons, etc., custom design services, sewing classes and a mail order fabric swatch service. The business reached national and international success.
Betsy joined Kent State’s faculty four years ago and enjoys sharing her knowledge, skills and industry experience with her students through instructing sewing, flat pattern and draping classes. She is currently the faculty advisor to the annual fashion show production held every spring representing senior accomplishments. One of Betsy’s goals is to see wonderful fabric resources offered on campus to the students.
