A/B Duo will perform an array of new compositions at Kent State University

AB 1Kent, Ohio – The A/B Duo comprised of percussionist Christopher G. Jones and flutist Meeranai Shim will perform as part of the Vanguard Guest Artists Series on Monday, Mar. 10 at 8 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. This young and dynamic duo is committed to perform fun, intense and thought-provoking new works. Repertoire for the upcoming performance includes works such as “Echologuacious for Flute, Percussion, and GameBoy/LSDJ” by Matthew Joseph Payne, “Things We Dream About for Flute and Percussion” by Ivan Trevino, “Nocturne for Contrabass Flute and Djembe” by Caroline O’Brien, “Isla for Flute, Vibraphone and Live Processing” by Ian Dicke, “Limb for Contrabass Flute/Piccolo and Percussion” by Drew Baker and “Sol Moon Rocker for Flute and Vibraphone” by Zach Browning.

Formed in Chicago, A/B Duo has been touring all over the US and commissioning new works since 2012. Most of these compositions have been recently written for them and vary wildly in style and instrumentation from djembe and contrabass flute to Nintendo Gameboy and drum set. The duo’s first recording project is a rock and roll and Gameboy infused EP released in December 2013.

Tickets for the performance are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and Kent State University faculty and staff, $10 for groups of 10 or more patrons, $8 for non Kent State students, $5 for children and free for full-time Kent Campus undergraduate students.

Tickets are available weekdays 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Box Office, located in the lobby of the Roe Green Center in the Center for the Performing Arts at 1325 Theatre Drive on the campus of Kent State University. The Performing Arts Box Office accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover, in addition to cash and checks.


The Ludwig Recital Hall box office will open one hour prior to the performance for walk up sales, and will accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Tickets and more information are available by calling 330-672-ARTS (2787) or visiting kent.edu/music.
