Purpose of Project

Throughout my graduate studies, I focused a great deal of my research on teaching and learning about diverse cultural traditions and social issues in the field of art education. The educational installation for my Master’s Project follows the intercultural approach to global art education and purports to provide an interesting and meaningful learning experience for its viewers.

My goal for this project is to use my knowledge and skills as both an artist and art educator to help individuals understand and appreciate the Mexican holiday, Días de los Muertos, and the American holiday, Memorial Day. By presenting the two cultural traditions alongside each other and addressing issues that both cultures encounter, viewers can formulate and utilize cultural comparisons to understand both cultures on a deeper level.

I would like to personally thank all of the campus organizations, community businesses, and individuals that have encouraged and supported me throughout the completion of my educational installation for my Master’s Project!
