At Kent State University, you’re encouraged to obtain art experience in the real world before graduation. An internship can give you the professional connections and real world experience you need when your pursue a profession. Explore the following opportunities designed for art students:

  • Unpaid Internships at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Interested in finding out if a museum career is for you? Unpaid internships at the Cleveland Museum of Art provide a unique opportunity to work in a variety of departments, including curatorial, education, collections management, conservation, library, human resources, marketing/ external affairs, and performing arts and film. Museum professionals serve as mentors to build on the learning experience.
  • How to Apply:
Candidates should submit a resumé of education and employment, including a list of any relevant courses taken, as well as a 500-word essay about career goals, interest in museum work, and reasons for applying to internships@clevelandart.org.Please note that greater consideration will be give to candidates with some previous museum volunteer experience.
  • Two Internships are available at Hattie Larlham, which provides services to children and adults with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities throughout northeast Ohio. Since its establishment in 1961, Hattie Larlham has expanded from its residential main campus in Mantua, Ohio to provide community care through community homes, home and foster care and an integrated day care. 
    • The Creative Arts Intern would work up to 20 hours/week experience in developing and implementing an entire program, working with experienced artists and launching new disciplines. Read more...(downloads as a PDF).
