Private support for scholarships enables our students to excel in the classroom, in the community and in their careers. Many Kent state alumni and friends choose to support the Founders Scholars Program, which provides a lasting source of support for deserving students.
All incoming freshmen are screened for these scholarships. The general criteria is for a minimum 3.8 cumulative high school GPA and 29 ACT/1290 SAT score. Many named scholarships also have additional criteria specified by the donor. These awards are made centrally by Student Financial Aid for four years.
Named scholarships may be endowed at the following levels:
An endowment of $25,000 or more generates a minimum of $1,250 annually, which is pooled with other funds to assist a student with his or her educational costs.
New endowments of $100,000 provide an award of $5,000 annually to a named scholarship recipient.
